Hello world!

I am currently in 2nd year at Edinburgh College of Art studying a Degree in Printed Textiles.
You could say that it has taken me a while to get there. I started off on the BTEC course at Telford College which is a foundation course where you get to experience the most popular kinds of art: drawing and painting, illustration, sculpture, fashion and textiles and you also get art history and life drawing. This really opened my eyes to the possibilities that lie ahead. I specialized in fashion and textiles. I finished the year with a merit.

I then applied to Edinburgh College of Art at this early stage to go into first year and not surprisingly, I didn’t get in. So I decided to stay at Telford for another two years to do the HND in Stitched Textiles and Fashion.  I found this really enjoyable despite struggling with the pattern cutting and construction of garments.  I knew pretty much from the start that I wanted a career in Textiles but this course confirmed it.

At the end of 2nd Year I specialized in Textiles again for my final project and finished with a merit.  Prior to this I applied to my current course at Edinburgh College of Art and I got in even though it took them 3 weeks to update my UCAS application.  Plus it was the only place I applied to on both occasions which went against every tutor’s advice as they thought I should apply elsewhere as well.  They couldn’t seem to understand that I genuinely like living in Edinburgh and that I wasn’t taking the easy way out by not moving away.

That’s all for now, I’ll continue with this at some stage soon.
